how about because they fought in wars to protect the freedoms we have today? they don’t get much in social security. why do you think a lot of them move to DE (at least on the east coast)? becausethere are no taxes. and many STILL are struggling and have to get jobs to cover their house and health care.

KylieAnne, if you want to give people a discount for “protecting your freedoms”, you give a MILITARY discount, not a senior discount. Otherwise you’re excluding the majority of the people who deserve that break, and including many who don’t. Makes absolutely no sense.
When I worked in a restaurant, people (of all ages) would bring in their military IDs, and it was the restaurant’s policy to give a discount. It’s really a shame that senior discounts are so much more common, and this isn’t coming from a particularly patriotic person.

For all of you that are saying it is cruel… how so? Who says that seniors are having a harder time getting money than other people? If that’s the reason, why not give a homeless discount? There is no logical reason other than a “respect your elders” mentality to justify a senior discount.
Most people need to learn to think for themselves and not continue to follow along with every little stupid tradition.

If we’re gonna give old folks a discount for anything it should be for coughins, and other pre-paid funeral expenses. And that discount should only be there because they are doing us a favor by saving us the headaches of dealing with that shit when they finally die!
